September 25th, 2015 What an incredible day! I was flying high and not even up in the air in the plane today. We had a lot of community members come and show their support and students came down to walk on the new trail. The radar showed green all over the place and yet we had overcast skies and no rain. The Bridgewater Police Chief even said the sun peeked out while I was sharing for the dedication and ribbon cutting. Just another demonstration of the Lord's amazing work during this entire project. What an honor to be a part of this project.

September 24th, 2015 We had 300 students come down to the trail and enjoy a variety of events and activities. The planning took place throughout the summer and we had the Mt. Crawford Creamery , the Rockingham County Sheriff's Office, the National Guard, the Bridgewater Police and Bike Officers, Rockingham County Fire and Rescue, Bridgewater Rescue Squad, Wanda Willis and Erin Stehle from the Harrisonburg Fire Department, Lee Pearson (my mom) sharing about her melanoma experience back in June 2015, Mole Hill Bikes and the Bridgewater College Women's Basketball team all took part in our 2-day event.
Students in the 9th, 10th grade and advanced physical education classes were able to play basketball, ride bikes on the new trail with a police officer leading the ride, enjoy taste testing at the Mt. Crawford Creamery booth, learn how and why you should apply sunscreen to protect your skin (see the May 20th, 2015 entry), pre/post heart rate and walking/jogging on the trail, dragging a dummy and carrying heavy buckets at the fire dept station, driving a golf cart with the Sheriff's Department, learning why we cannot multi task and drive at the same time and we took selfies for our Save Your Tailgate (SYT) selfie seatbelt challenge to encourage everyone to BUCKLE UP!
Thank you to all the organizations and individuals who donated their time and effort to offer this celebration for our students. It was a GORGEOUS day! Look at the sunrise that greeted us. =)
September 23, 2015 Thank you to Hannah Collins and Joe Coffman for flying over the trail and taking the pictures of our trail from above.
Kickoff event is tomorrow and Friday and we are ready to celebrate the completion of our new trail.
September 9, 2015 We have our physical education classes walking, jogging and biking on our new trail. There are a lot of smiling faces and we are enjoying the beautiful weather this week.
Students are learning how to share the trail with other users who may be going in a different direction. We are teaching right-of-way rules in driver education and physical education classes. Mr. Newman had his classes walk 2 miles and is modeling to everyone how to be healthy!
Everyone is invited to our GRAND OPENING next Friday September 25th at 11 am!!
Come and join the festivities. Bring your walking shoes, running shoes, bikes and helmets. Here is a link to students biking during our classes. Click here
