May we all strive each day to pursue righteous living, being faithful to the Lord and each other, being loving towards each other and seeking peace in a world filled with so much evil.
Today was a great day of learning. I observed a flight in the retractable Cutlass at 7:30 am. I am a visual learner, so even though I can't hear anything in the back seat because of the awful radios and avionics, I can see most of what they are doing. I can also practice my procedures and by observing, I only have to pay with my time and not my money. On one landing, we were turning final and I caught a glimpse of a large Elite Airways jet coming in on final at our 1 o'clock. Since I can't hear the radio calls in the back seat, I didn't know about any other traffic. I personally would have turned right to exit the area and tried again. We turned left instead and the jet was off behind our right side. Now we were heading back towards the traffic on downwind behind us. UGH! Bobby calls me Eagle Eye in the back during our training flights. The flight school planes have TCAS (Traffic Collision Avoidance Systems) but the Cutlas does not and neither does my piper. I am constantly on the lookout for other planes that are way closer to our plane than I like out here.
Then I flew the Cutlas with Don. Ronda the secretary at the flight school heard Don was coming in and she said "Don? on a Monday? " You must be REALLY special! Made me smile. That is the favor of the Lord helping me to reach my goal. He took me under his wing last week when I did NOT understand the constant speed prop and was in tears. He is now my instructor and I am so thankful. The Lord always provides. He does not work during the week at all and was willing to come in if he could bring his 5 year old son. I said no problem! Donald rode along in the back with us and he is one hyper young man. Kind of like me! =)
We worked on my weak rudder skills, power settings on landings, crosswind landings (they are improving) and slips. I am even starting to initiate the slip by myself. Still not confident, but a lot of improvement in this area.
Truman may have his checkride on Wed now, so we went up in the Cutlas so he could fly it for the 1st time! I observed in the back as a storm was brewing all around us.
